Transportation Agency Confirms No Increase in Parking Rates

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Transportation Agency, has emphasized that there is currently no increase in parking rates in Jakarta.

No increase in parking rates

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin said people do not need to worry about the numbers circulating. The proposed rates are the result of studies conducted in 2019 and 2022 and are not yet final. The proposed rates are the result of studies conducted in 2019 and 2022 and are not yet final.

"We wish to clarify that there is currently no increase in parking rates. The figures circulating are merely proposals under review and do not yet constitute a final decision. No need to worry, as the rates currently in effect remain unchanged," said Budi, Wednesday (8/26).

According to Budi, rate determination is the prerogative of the Governor, exercised through a joint deliberation mechanism with the City Council in accordance with applicable regulations.

Any plan to adjust fares must undergo a process of review and consultation with stakeholders, including consideration of input from the Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ), before being ratified by the Governor.

As a result, current parking rates remain unchanged, as stipulated in Gubernatorial Regulation Number 31/2017 about Parking Service Rates and Regional Regulation Number 1/2024 about Regional Taxes and Regional Levies. The rates currently in effect are Rp 2,000 per hour for motorcycles, Rp 5,000 for cars, and Rp 7,000 for buses or trucks.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Transportation Agency is currently focusing on improving parking governance and management by expanding digital payment options, upgrading parking equipment, strengthening oversight, and controlling on illegal parking. Cashless parking payments have been implemented on 31 street sections and will continue to be expanded in stages.

"Our focus is on establishing a parking system that is more orderly, transparent, and accountable. We are continuing to expand digitalization and strengthen oversight, and we will take firm action against illegal parking," he added.

The Jakarta Transportation Agency encourages the public to use official parking facilities and utilize available digital payment systems to ensure comfortable and safe mobility, as well as to restore order to road usage.

"We want the public to have access to official, convenient, and comfortable parking services. Therefore, we will continue to expand digitalization and take firm action against illegal parking practices to ensure that road functionality and resident mobility are once again safe, comfortable, and orderly," he explained.

The public can contact the Jakarta Transportation Agency Call Center at 1500-813, which operates 24 hours a day. It aims to support fast and responsive transportation services.

In addition, information regarding transportation services and policies can also be obtained through the official Instagram account @dishubdkijakarta, which serves as an information channel and a platform for the public to voice their views.
